How consumers used Amazon during lockdown, and the lasting impact on their shopping habits
Pattern polled Australian online shoppers in May 2021 for an updated view on how they are using the platform and why they choose to shop with Amazon. The results clearly show how Amazon is holding on to the gains it made during lockdown in 2020, and increasingly turning browsers into repeat buyers.
Top findings include:
- 54% of Aussie online shoppers have bought from Amazon in the past year
- 28% report buying five times or more in the past year
- 31% of online shoppers have access to an Amazon Prime account
- 60% buy from Amazon because it is cheaper that other retailers
- 39% buy as Amazon delivers more quickly than other retailers
